The 2017 meeting will once again feature a stand-alone skills-based workshop session that does not compete with other abstract or research sessions.
Each workshop will be 90 minutes in length and offer interactive learning about a specific substance-use related topic. Workshops must focus on building specific skills in clinical practice, education, research, community action, or policy/advocacy related to substance use. The most desirable workshop sessions will focus on a set of concrete skills or techniques that can be attained and practiced by participants in 90 minutes, and which participants can then introduce into their teaching, practice, research or community following the meeting. Workshop proposals from presenters trained in any discipline will be welcome. Workshop proposals that plan to disseminate information in a lecture or panel format only will not be accepted.
Workshops must be submitted online at www.amersa.org. The “Content and Methods” section of the online application should provide sufficient detail to evaluate the workshop but under no circumstances shall exceed 500 words. A workshop outline and/or timeline may be submitted but will count towards the 500 word limit.
All applicants will be notified of review decisions by July 1st. Special recognition will be given for the Best Workshop. The Workshop winner will receive an award and free conference registration for the 2017 conference. Please direct workshop related questions to the Workshop Chair, Harold I. Perl, PhD at DrHaroldPerl@gmail.com
